Oklahoma Fat Camp Solution: Camp Pocono Trails
Looking for the best fat camp in Oklahoma? While located out of Oklahoma, at Camp Pocono Trails, Oklahoma Teens are investing in developing the skills they need to succeed. Regardless of the focus of the camp: weight management, tech addiction, or self-esteem, we’ve all noticed that therapeutic based programs seem to help bring focus into many areas of the campers life. Our licensed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) counselors and social workers will address any issue that relates to your teen’s journey to improving their self-image.
What is a Fat Camp?
A “fat camp” is the common name for an all-inclusive weight loss summer camp for kids, teens, and young adults. At Camp Pocono Trails we prefer the term “weight loss camp” as it’s a more accepting term that better describes the end result our campers are seeking. While as parents we might think we are being helpful telling our child what is wrong with them, it’s rarely helpful to hurt their feelings. Probably, your child already knows if they are overweight. They are more likely to get on board with a program that is termed a “weight loss camp” versus a “fat camp” in Oklahoma.
At our fat camp for Oklahoma campers, we get so many campers from Oklahoma that we decided to create this page just for parents, teens, and young adults from Oklahoma. Many parents drive to Camp Pocono Trails, and we can also pick up your child from major airports in our area. But you can rest assured that we get many campers from Oklahoma that your child will build friendships and feel right at home.
There are no Strangers at Weight Loss Camp, Just Friends You’ve Not Met!
If your child is nervous about attending camp, you’ve found the right camp for sure. We have a positive atmosphere filled with love and support. Every camper makes friends and is encouraged to support each-other. Professional staff like therapists and social workers ensure that campers get along with one another and that any homesickness issue is addressed head-on.
Do Fat Camps Work?
Fat camps work to help kids lose weight and keep it off through a combination of fitness, nutrition, and education. At Camp Pocono Trails, we are proven to be effective not just for losing weight during the weeks at camp, but also for helping the weight stay off upon returning home. If you check out our Transformations page you can see the astounding results we have produced. Our results are due to our 20+ years of experience in the field of health, nutrition, and long term weight control. At Camp Pocono Trails we don’t use fear or “boot camp” approaches for weight loss. Instead, we motivate and inspire our campers to be their best and develop long-term strategies for weight loss that will stand the test of time.

How Much do Fat Camps Cost?
When considering the cost of fat camp, keep in mind the cost of doing nothing, or investing in a fad diet or other half measure that does not work. The costs of “doing nothing” or half measures can be immeasurable. We already know the health effects of being overweight over your lifespan. But many parents don’t consider the financial related costs. For example, people who are overweight are less likely to graduate college, more likely to occupy a lower socio-economic status, and are less likely to get married.
Fat camps such as Camp Pocono Trails cost around 2,000 per week, depending on the camp and length of stay. Fat Camps like Camp Pocono Trails are all-inclusive, meaning that all meals, lodging, and activities are included in the program price.
Parents should consider tuition at camp similar to tuition in a child’s education. At Camp Pocono Trails, we are preparing your child for life success after they reach the age of independence. Parents can rest assured that we will provide the right corrective experiences to ignite a lifetime of health, wellness, and weight control.
Campers reside in extremely comfortable quarters, with only 6-8 campers in each cabin, and are grouped according to age and length of stay. At our weight loss camp, campers and their new friends can play on teams together, face challenges of obstacle courses, overcome fears and help build one another’s confidence on a daily basis. With so many activities to choose from and 5 activity periods per day, there is an endless amount of fun to be had at Camp Pocono Trails!
Sometimes it’s just better to work on an issue away from family and friends. This is why we get so many campers from Oklahoma. The camp experience will be an adventure for your child and they will learn the skills they need for a lifetime of healthy living!
