Florida Teens Flock North for Fat Camp at Pocono Trails

Looking for a Florida weight loss camp? While not in FL. at Camp Pocono Trails in northeastern Pennsylvania Florida teens are treated to a gorgeous change of scenery. In this lush wooded mountain region on 350-acres of private land you will have all the resort-style amenities that the Pocono retreats are renowned for.

What is a Fat Camp?

A “fat camp” is the common name for an all-inclusive weight loss summer camp for kids, teens, and young adults.  At Camp Pocono Trails we prefer the term “weight loss camp” as it’s a more accepting term that better describes the end result our campers are seeking. While as parents we might think we are being helpful telling our child what is wrong with them, it’s rarely helpful to hurt their feelings. Probably, your child already knows if they are overweight. They are more likely to get on board with a program that is termed a “weight loss camp” versus a “fat camp” in Florida.

At our fat camp for Florida campers, we get so many campers from Florida that we decided to create this page just for parents, teens, and young adults from Florida. Many parents drive to Camp Pocono Trails, and we can also pick up your child from major airports in our area. But you can rest assured that we get many campers from Florida that your child will build friendships and feel right at home.

Travel here to improve your self-image, lose weight, gain confidence, and break free from the routine of your technology driven lifestyle. Escape to Camp Pocono Trails for a healthy retreat that will strengthen your body, mind, and spirit this summer.

Young Adults Break Free from Technology This Summer At Summer Camp

Florida teens are just as technology driven as any other teen out there. As a society we have been submerged with our iPhones, computers, tablets, gaming devices, and more. Camp Pocono Trails is proud to introduce a new technology track for our teens and the perfect escape from all of it. The best way to change technology habits is to replace them with healthy habits. Should you choose this option, Licensed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) counselors and social workers will teach you the skills to break free and maintain a healthy balance in this age of technology. This summer commit to change and embrace the healthy lifestyle with the skills that are taught at Camp Pocono Trails. Break free from the routines that keep you attached to these devices. Get active, fill your lungs with some fresh mountain air, and meet some new friends this summer at Camp Pocono Trails!

How Much do I Eat at a Fat Camp?

Most camps give campers three real meals per day. Meals are specially designed by chefs and nutritionists to ensure that a low-calorie diet can still give kids enough healthy energy to stay active during their stay. The combination of healthy meals and heavy exercise ensure a net-negative calorie intake and steady, maintainable weight loss.

Campers at Camp Pocono Trails can eat as much as they like. However, food is cooked properly and main portion sizes are limited to the appropriate amount. But campers can have all the salad they would like.

It is very rare that we ever hear of a camper being hungry at camp. We offer three meals a day along with three snacks. Campers are also required to carry water bottle with them and keep hydrated.

We eat a lot of traditional foods at camp, they are just prepared in a way that is healthier. For example, nothing is fried at camp. Instead we grill, steam, or bake.

We also don’t serve soda at camp. When we do have items like cheese or milk, we use that fat-free alternative. Finally, we teach campers how to prepare their own meals so that they can implement the changes they learn at camp back home.

If your child has any anxieties about food served at fat camp you have assure them that our portions are substantial, our food taste great, and they will learn recipes they will want to show you when they return home. Our culinary component is truly a highlight of camp.
