Tony Sparber shares insights on weight loss camps

A press release was broadcast this morning from Maximum Exposure PR. The release features insights on weight loss from Tony Sparber, founder of Camp Pocono Trails summer weight loss camp.

Overweight kids and teens are dealing with heart disease, type 2 diabetes, low self esteem, and bullying in addition to dealing with their weight issues.

If this sounds familiar, Sparber suggests urging the child to attend a camp where they can get in shape, meet like-minded friends their own age, and most of all, have a good time.

“A fun, well-rounded environment is the best type of camp,” Sparber says.

Over Eating Can Be Overcome With the Help of Summer Weight Loss Camps

Is your child overeating?  Is she overweight or obese, or are you worried that she might continue on to become one as an effect of her eating habits? Then you are not alone. Millions of people all around the country and all around the world are parents to overweight and obese children, and together, you share the same anxiety and fears that any parent would.

Together, you also share the same question: what is there to do? As a parent, it is your job to keep your child healthy, and keeping children healthy is usually associated with letting them eat well. Unfortunately, plenty of parents fail to realize that their children are eating too much. This situation then becomes a problem which needs intervention.

Enter Weight Loss Camps
It’s a good thing there are famous weight loss camps such as Camp Pocono Trails which can serve as perfect venues to help your child stop his or her eating habits and start living healthy. Summer weight loss camps like Camp Pocono Trails are venues where your child gets to meet friends and learn things about healthy eating and keeping fit.

What To Expect In Summer Weight Loss Camps?

These weight loss camps usually incorporate physical activities and outdoor games on a daily basis, so your child gets to move and go about instead of sitting on the couch and watching television like he or she usually does at home. There are usually numerous games and sports to choose from, and your child gets the chance to choose what he or she wants to engage himself in.

There are also classes and lessons on proper nutrition, correct exercise, cooking and food preparation and making healthy food choices. Summer weight loss camps also offer therapy and counseling in order for kids to get in touch with themselves and talk about prevailing issues that cause them to over-eat.

What About Eating?
Meal times in famous weight loss camps are healthy with a fair share of vegetables and fruits along with the typical favorites such as burger and pizza. Meals are served three times a day, and there are also snacks in between meals Portions aren’t necessarily controlled, because camps usually believe that the key to eating less is not done by controlling meals, but by teaching children the importance of making right food choices. Controlling food simply stops children from overeating inside the camps, but there is no guarantee for them to stop their overeating tendencies outside the weight loss camp, where there is less control and supervision when it comes to eating.

The combination of exercise and physical activity, proper eating and the right knowledge on how to go about these things will certainly bring out the best in your child. Most obese or overweight children come out from weight loss camps with a renewed sense of self. They tend to eat less and try more physical activities. Famous weight loss camps like Camp Pocono Trails help your children to become healthy and have a better outlook when it comes to their weight and their health as well.

Weight Loss Summer Camps Teach Kids Long-lasting Healthy Habits

In today’s day and age, plenty of children are becoming less healthy. With all the fast food meals, microwaveable dinner and junk foods to eat as well as the computer or television to keep them busy during their free time, there’s no wonder why the number of overweight and obese kids is slowly increasing.

As parents, we can always start instilling the importance of healthy eating at home, but plenty of us would find it difficult to start. Most of us don’t have time to take our kids out to the park on a regular basis or even prepare healthy meals from scratch every night.

If you’re worried about your child’s weight and health, but don’t have any idea where and how to start in teaching him or her healthy habits, then you might want to consider weight loss camps for overweight kids.

Camps for overweight kids such as Camp Pocono trails have become more and more popular over the past few years due to rising issues like obesity and the increasing need for weight loss for kids. And over the years, these camps have proven to be very helpful and effective in their missions.

What Are Weight Loss Camps?
Camps for overweight kids are venues where kids usually stay for several weeks during the summer. Think of it as a typical summer camp, but instead of regular physical activities and fun classes, these camps focus more on healthy eating, exercise and weight loss. The camp is run by staff members who have been trained to handle obese children – these include physical instructors, nutritionists, nurses and behavioral therapists. Your child also gets to be about overweight and obese children who are also there to lose weight, allowing him or her to mingle with other kids his age. They get to form non-judgmental friendships with their peers and not have to go through all the teasing and bullying he would otherwise have to experience in school or anywhere else.

What Do Kids Learn From Weight Loss Camps?
Summer weight loss camps incorporate lessons on proper food choices, healthy eating, and simple cooking classes. Outdoor activities involve games and different sports. Camps for overweight kids like Camp Pocono Trails may have activities such as treasure hunts that encourage children to run around and move. Some weight loss camps have pools and offer swimming classes to those who wish to join them. Sports and physical activities are plentiful, and your child gets to choose the ones that he wants to join in, encouraging his of choice. The aim of the physical activities in weight loss camps isn’t just to help kids drop pounds, but also to increase their strength, flexibility and balance.

Aside from losing weight through exercise, weight loss camps for kids serve as a sheltered environment where they get to learn healthy eating habits, without the pressures of external influences. They learn to get in touch with themselves and relearn even the simple things such as how to choose the right foods, why they should choose the right foods, how much they should eat and why exercising and keeping fit is important. These changes may be small and simple, but altogether they play a vital role in the improvement of your child’s weight and health.

Understanding Fitness Camps: What’s In It For Your Child?

With the rise of obesity in kids, fitness camps such as Camp Pocono Trails become more and more common. Some parents usually feel guilty about sending (or even simply thinking of sending) their kids to fitness camps.  This is because fitness camps usually evoke images of drill sergeants forcing kids to wake up at four in the morning or yelling at them to do fifty pushups. But, in reality, fitness camps are really far cry from the boot camps that we know.

Summer fitness camps of today are venues where overweight or obese children can learn the value of healthy living and healthy eating. What makes this kind of learning unique is that the children or teenagers are inside a structured environment where they do not have to face the pressures and the temptations of everyday life and the real world outside.

The thought of sending your youngster to a fitness camp shouldn’t scare you. Summer camps such as Camp Pocono Trails are beneficial and fun for overweight and obese kids – and it is the fun factor here which is very important. This is also what makes these camps effective. Summer camps offer a variety of activities, and kids have the freedom to choose activities that they want to join in. The scope of most fitness camps for teens includes education, food and fun.

Education entails lessons on nutrition and cooking for campers. The goal of these lessons and classes is to teach teenagers and kids the kinds of foods that are healthy and nutritious. This is also to expose them to different kinds of foods that are delicious and healthy as well, and will also teach them on how to prepare simple snacks and meals that they can enjoy. Teenagers and kids usually return home from fitness camps with a desire to help in cooking or grocery shopping for the home. Kids also become better in their food choices at home and in other places as well.

Summer Fitness Camps also offer good food. They might offer the typical teenage food for sometime (pizza, burgers and chicken), but they will certainly also offer better food choices such as fruits and vegetables. Portions may also be controlled, but teens will usually be taught to make their own decisions as to when they want to stop eating.

Fitness camps for kids and teenagers are also fun. As said, it is the fun factor that makes it really effective, since teenagers or kids would usually love to involve themselves in activities which are fun and entertaining. There will be plenty of activities and games that will call on the teens to be physically active. In fact, your child may want to continue a sport he might have started at fitness camp.

Fitness camps may also have emotional and behavioral therapy, which will help touch emotional aspects of eating. Therapy helps teens get over these past issues, which is very vital for the success of your teenager’s weight loss efforts.

Fitness camps such as Camp Pocono trails also employ staff members who are qualified for the job. There will be nutritionists, nurses and people with educational and psychology backgrounds who will help work with overweight children.

With this, you might be pretty excited about sending your child to a fitness camp. But before doing so, it’s best to check out the summer camp or fitness camp for yourself to make sure that they meet the standards necessary for them to be safe and effective venues for your child.

Kids Weight Loss Issues: How To Help Kids Who Find Comfort In Food

More and more kids are becoming overweight and obese, due to excessive eating and lack of mobility. Who can blame them, televisions and computers are beckoning them to sit down and watch, while they turn to food from the fridge when they’re sad, afraid or just plain bored and in need of some comfort.

So, if you’re worried about your child becoming overweight, then there are plenty of ways for you to intervene and help them eat healthier. Kids weight loss issues can be solved with proper guidance, and a little external help along the way.

Get Your Child Active
Another good way to address kids weight loss issues is to get your child healthy. There are plenty of sports activities that your son or daughter can engage in. During the summer, you can enroll your child in Kid’s Fitness camps such as Camp Pocono Trails in order to address any teen weight loss issues that your child may have.

Kids Fitness Camps are designed for children to go out, interact and keep active. There’s no denying that kids nowadays would rather spend their time eating and watching television. In summer fitness camps, however, they get the physical activity that they need – in a fun and non-restrictive method that’s designed especially for their age. Your child can meet with other children, and together they learn the importance of nutrition and physical activity. Camp Pocono Trails is just one example of summer fitness camps available all over the country.

Pick Healthy Comfort Foods
Aside from getting external help, it’s also very important to make some changes in the home. Let’s face it, as parents we usually aren’t at home most of the time, so we usually have no idea what our kids stuff inside their mouths while they’re out. But, as a parent you can change this picture completely.  Stocking your refrigerator or pantry with healthy snacks or comfort food is a good place to start. This may not immediately give immediate results in your kid’s weight loss issues, but it definitely is a start. Filling up your refrigerator with healthy snack items doesn’t stop your child from eating – but at least he gets to pick between healthier choices.

Spend Time With Your Child
Spending more time with your child allows you to have time to speak to him or her. Most children, especially those who usually don’t see their parents regularly due to work and other obligations, turn to food for comfort. By spending time with your child and talking to him or her on a daily basis, you establish a bond that will help your child feel more secure and less sad. Your time spent with your child may also be a great opportunity to talk to him or her about the importance of nutrition and proper eating. Just remember to practice what you preach, since children usually look up to their parents as examples as well.

With the right guidance, a little lifestyle change and some prodding here and there, you can help your child counter the common kids weight loss issues, allowing him or her to grow up into a healthy individual.

Kids’ Weight Loss Camps Like Camp Pocono Trails Help Children Gain Confidence

Kids weight loss camps such as Camp Pocono Trails continue to become more and more popular as the number of obese children in the United States continues to rise. And there’s no wondering why as recent studies show that nearly one third of the American children population are overweight, and have high risk of becoming obese.
Obesity or excessive weight poses plenty of problems for children.

Type 2 diabetes is becoming increasingly evident in children, and mostly occurs in obese or overweight kids. If your child is overweight or obese, then he faces this danger, as well as other possible health risks as well. With that, more and more parents are slowly sending their children to weight loss summer camps in the hopes of helping their kids become healthier children.

Obese children have a higher risk of developing heart disease over children who are not overweight. A child’s life expectancy may also be lowered by as much as three to five years if he continues to remains overweight. Excess weight of the body causes strain on almost all the organs – and this can be detrimental to your child since his organs and organ systems are still developing. Overweight children may also suffer from liver disease, owing to the extra fat stored in the liver. He may also have an increased risk of brain pressure – which causes headaches or vision problems. Gallstones, acid reflux and other complications of the digestive tract are also more likely to occur.

As a parent, you may find this very alarming. But, this is true and it happens to plenty of children all around the world. But, there are also other dangers caused by obesity that most of us tend to overlook. Over and on top of all these health issues, obesity can also take a toll on the self esteem and confidence of your child.

The world is a cruel place for obese and overweight children – they hear the media obsess on skinny and thin, students and other children in school bully, tease and ridicule them. Even in a school with plenty of overweight children, studies show that it is the obese children that usually get picked on the most. Any child who has to go through these very difficult and demeaning experiences is more likely to suffer from depression; he is also inclined to eat more, causing a very difficult cycle to break out from. External factors can play a role on how your child perceives his or her appearance and self – worth, and this can take a toll on his confidence and self esteem, causing his social skills to suffer.  It’s a difficult and sad thought, but some obese children are even bullied into suicide.

It’s not enough to speak to your child and tell them that you love and care for him despite his weight. While this is a very crucial step in letting him know that you are there for him, your child (with your help) will need to take more action.
One good way to help your child combat obesity is by involving him in kids weight loss camps such as Camp Pocono Trails. Just like typical summer camps or kids camps, weight loss summer camps allow your child to be in a healthy and accepting environment where he can meet friends, get active learn valuable lessons about eating and living healthy. A month or several weeks in weight loss camps like these can be a stepping stone to helping him reverse obesity, giving him the chance to live life as an individual who is healthier and more confident as well.

Tips For Choosing The Right Teen Girls’ Weight Loss Program

Each year, thousands of teenage girls are afflicted with eating disorders. Often, these disorders fly under the parental radar until a medical emergency is experienced. There is no doubt that growing up as a teenage girl offers a wide variety of problems when it comes to self-image. Today’s teen media punctuates the “thin is in” message that makes teenage girls so determined to lose weight. For this reason, teenage girls are often targeted by marketers of fast weight loss programs, supplements and outrageous exercise programs that can cause major health issues for young girls. If your daughter is overweight, or overly concerned about her weight it is your parental responsibility to find teen girls weight loss options that are above all positive and healthy!

When it comes to teen weight loss, doctors and nutritionists are often skeptical and cautious before advocating any program. Not only is a teenage girls body still growing, which means they have nutritional needs beyond that of a grown woman; but they are also more likely to become obsessive about their weight loss program. For many girls, the answer can come in the form of a weight loss camp for girls, which is specifically designed to help with the psychological aspects of weight and body image as well as successful weight loss. Often, the issues of being overweight or losing weight for girls are one that branches from social insecurity or embarrassment. They desperately feel that they have to fit into certain size clothing, or be the same size as the people they admire on TV, without giving thought to the fact that their goals may be unrealistic and even unhealthy for them.

In order to help teen girls weight loss be both healthy and successful, the program they choose should be discussed with a pediatrician. This way, any holes that don’t nutritionally support their growth will be revealed. If your teenage daughter is overweight, parents should also explore any underlying medical issues that could be the cause. Parents should also discuss positive body image and take a leading role in deciding which teen girls weight loss program their child can participate in. You will find that there are many healthy opportunities for teen weight loss that may exist within your community or school. Many branches of Weight Watchers offer programs specifically designed for teenage girls as well.

For many parents, the best thing they can do for their daughter is to enroll them in a weight loss camp for girls only. This way they will not be under pressure or scrutiny from boys and they will find companionship with other girls who share the same concerns as them. Many of the weight loss camps for girls teach young teens how to eat healthily, exercise properly, and change their mindset so that it will be one of self-acceptance and self-confidence. These controlled environments allow ample room for education about proper nutrition as well as how to make lifestyle changes that will support your daughter long term. These are perhaps the most important elements of any teen girls weight loss program.

Unfortunately, many teen weight loss initiatives are taken without parental or doctor involvement. These can lead to deadly obsessive eating disorders. Chances are if your teen girl is overweight, they are suffering from esteem issues. By introducing healthy alternatives, such as local support groups, weight loss camps for girls or by offering exercise programs that are safe – you can drastically change the quality of life your teen daughter experiences.

It is important that moms of teens realize how loudly their own words and actions speak to their daughters as well. Whether mom is overweight or stringently disciplined when it comes to diet and exercise, your daughter will often follow suit. By making often off handed comments about ‘looking fat in jeans’ or not being happy with their own body, they unintentionally can pass on self-image issues to their daughters. If you are looking for a teen weight loss program for your daughter, you may find that leading by example is the most drastic way to help them.

If your daughter needs help with her weight, then offering to run with her, take an exercise class and making strides to remain active at home can make a huge difference. Additionally, family members can partake together in nutrition classes that help everyone learn how to stay healthy by eating the right foods and monitoring portions. Above all, realize that teen girls weight loss, when facilitated by supportive and involved parents – can be healthy and long term. If your daughter is extremely overweight, then choosing from many of the well-rounded weight loss camps for girls may be just the ticket to a lifetime of healthy eating and self-confidence.

Weight Loss For Girls Should Be Encouraged, Not Pushed!

You may not know this, but Michelle Obama has taken the plight to help teenagers lose weight and get healthy as her personal agenda. This year the CDC reported that obesity among young adolescents is higher than it has ever been. One group in particular, teenage girls are often hit the hardest by problems with weight and suffer from embarrassment, bullying, and are prone to eating disorders. Not only does being an overweight teen cause the onset of life threatening illnesses, it can be debilitating at a time in a kids life when they should be thriving the most! One of the biggest mistakes that parents and other adults make when it comes to teen girls weight loss is push the issue, making the child feel even worse. Luckily, thanks to First Lady Obama and lots of other positive influences, there are easy ways to encourage your girls weight loss without being hurtful.

First, realize that in order for teen girls weight loss to occur, they must have a basic understanding of nutrition and healthy eating habits. A survey in a United States high school indicated that 89% of teenagers (both boys and girls) do not understand how to balance calories or what they should or should not be eating. One of the reasons is that the diet industry as flooded the food aisles and convenience stores with processed and prepared foods claiming to be ‘calorie free,’ ‘fat free,’ carb free,’ or ‘low fat.’ These labels on products like energy drinks and snack foods often target teen girls and can make weight loss for girls confusing at best.

Parents also have part of the blame. Obviously, parents are the ones filling the fridge at home with foods that are unhealthy. Today, fewer families sit down to a family meal which often has teen girls fending for themselves when it comes to dinners. Rather than push your teen to work out and eat right, be a stellar example. You might even want to take one of the many free weight loss for girls or nutrition classes that are given at local hospitals. Then, make the teen girls weight loss program a family affair. Include your daughter in on the grocery shopping, meal preparation and list making. Clean out and revamp the fridge and cupboards so that your home is ‘girls weight loss friendly!’ This way you are setting both an example and leading the way.

You can also look at some of the government sponsored programs under the “Let’s Move” campaign. Exercise is instrumental in healthy living and in teen girls weight loss. Shape Up America, SmallStep Adult & teen as well as The Presidents Challenge offer great ideas to facilitate girls weight loss. Make sure that you ensure your teen daughter has the encouragement to participate. Other ideas are to join a gym, take a fitness class, or set aside time each day to walk together. You will find that when your teen daughter is having fun and learning the proper ways to care for her body, her weight loss will come natural. Plus, it’s a great way to show your daughter that you support her!

If your daughter is extremely overweight, you may want to enroll her weight loss camps for girls. These camps can be powerful catapults to teaching her how to eat right for her body, exercise safely, and learn the powers of positive thinking and self-esteem. Many offer extended care and support groups that are directed specifically for teen girls weight loss. This way, they will have a clear understanding of the right way to not just lose weight, but eat and stay healthy.

If your daughter is overweight, chances are you become frustrated when you see her making poor choices. Rather than chastise or point your finger – it is your job to empower her with encouragement. These difficult years, full of emotional and physical changes can be trying in the best of circumstances. If you stand behind your teen girls weight loss and make eating healthy a new way to live, you can help her achieve success. Even if you choose to send her to weight loss camps for girls; make sure that you prepare your home and offer plenty of encouragement when she comes home to ensure her success! Weight loss is easier for anyone who has an army behind them to lead the way. For girls weight loss, you can help them get much further if you support and encourage them rather than react in frustration to their problem.
